The Covid-19 pandemic has ravaged businesses worldwide with small and medium businesses hit particularly hard. But as countries press on with vaccinating their populations against the deadly virus, there seems to finally be some light at the end of the tunnel.

The US economy, for one, seems to be heading towards recovery. In Europe too, as vaccinations proceed, governments have relaxed restrictions with businesses such as restaurants, movie theatres and sports venues reopening. Amid this welcome news, experts admit getting back to pre-pandemic normal is going to take some doing.

Their words of caution seem par for the course. But it also begs the question: Is a complete return to a pre-pandemic normal even possible? What we mean by this question is that everyone has changed – some irrevocably – because of the Covid-19 crisis. In this context, is it really possible for us to return to the old normal?

History has shown us that global shocks trigger inventions, innovations and behaviour changes that linger far longer than the shocks itself. The world saw this following the Spanish Flu of 1918 and World War II, and there’s no reason to believe the post-Covid world will be any different.

So, as businesses pick up the pieces, it is vital that they are aware of this new normal so that they can calibrate their short-and long-term strategy to ensure they are successful.

Entrepreneur Shawn Khorrami, Up Strategy Lab CEO Daniel Nilsson and C-Suite leader and technology entrepreneur Bardia Dejban have collaborated to pour in their knowledge and experience into an e-book that will help small and medium business leaders easily walk the post-Covid path to recovery.

The Small Business Guide to surviving (and thriving) in the Covid era lists the steps small business leaders need to take to overcome the challenges they face today so that they can set themselves apart from the competition and succeed.

“The businesses that have the best chance of surviving and thriving in this unique and precarious environment are those that adapt to reality both in the short and long-term,” the authors write in the book’s introduction. “If you do so, you will not only function well within the pandemic, you will emerge from it as a much stronger leader with a thriving, healthy business. Even more importantly, the lessons learned from this immense disruption will guide you through future disruptions. And future disruptions there will be, as there have been in the past, each bringing with them their own sets of challenges and opportunities. Your ability to react to the challenges and take advantage of the opportunities will not only help set you apart from your competition, but enable you to succeed. In this e-book, we will outline in detail the steps small and medium businesses can take to do exactly that."
